Antacids - Background Information

  • Antacids are a form of medicine used to cure indigestion and heartburn by neutralizing the excess acid in your stomach.
  • Their is a variety of antacids, although some work faster than others they have different ingredients that may be harmful under certain conditions such as high blood pressure, if this is the case avoid sodium bicarbonate antacids.
  • Some antacids have a risk of showing some bad side effects, such as constipation which can be caused by Aluminum based antacids.
  • Antacids are not suitable for everyone. Some antacids have a chance of causing  strange side effects such as: Aluminum based antacids, these are capable of giving constipation, aluminum-magnesium antacids are less likely to cause constipation or diarrhea but are still capable of doing so.
  • Indigestion is when you feel pain in your stomach area due to the excess acid in the stomach, another definition for a case of indigestion is stomach ache, and it is also when in a state of indigestion it becomes harder to digest food.
  • Their are many antacids out there and there is no particular best for the job antacid from my range of knowledge
  • There are ways to avoid the possible side effects of antacids by exercising regularly and taking small meals, it is also required that you go see someone, most probably your doctor, before you consider taking antacids, in order to see if your body may have trouble taking the antacid because of a certain condition or possible side effects if exercise is not done or something that can keep you in shape.
